First World War Trench Map RICHEBOURG showing The Distillery

Via Flickr:This image, one of several of this area, shows the trenches around The Distillery at Richebourg.

Section os a 1917 First World War Trench Map of the RICHEBOURG sector. The distillery, which is clearly shown is approximately 1 mile south of Neuve Chappelle, scene of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle.

The red lines are the trenches and fortifications of the German Army. The blue lines are those of drainage ditches. The British and Allies were just to the west (left) of the German lines. It is interesting to net the heavily fortified system in Red Xs protecting the Distillery.
