Recently acquired bar of 5 medals.

An interesting group.

All 5 named to the East Kent Regiment on a single bar.

Kings South Africa Medal KSA – 5935 Corpl A Haggar E Kent Regt

BWM – 793 Sjt A G Hagger E Kent R

Victory – 793 Sjt A G Hagger E Kent R

Medal Index Car for WWI confirms entitlement. It also shows him serving as TR/16518 The Queens Regiment.

Arthur Hagger entered France 31st August 1915. Discharged 7th November 1916.

His attestation papers give his age in 1914 as 37yrs. It also states that he had previously in 3rd Battalion East Kent Regiment.

Further research shows Arthur George Hager whose birth was registered at Wandsworth, London 1877.

Haggar shows on both medal rolls for the Queens and Kings South Africa Medals. Note the different spelling of his surname.

His death was registered in 1950 with his age put at 73 yrs which tallies with other information.

He married Alice Jane Tyler on the 7th August 1905 at Wanstead Slip, Essex. She was 28yrs old at the time.

Son of George and Bridgett Hagger of West Ham, London.

The East Kent Regiment are The Buffs.
