Egypt and Khedives Medal Pair to Joseph Dawson Grenadier Guards

This item encapsulates everything that is fascinating and rewarding about having an interest in medals, and the power of the internet.

The Egypt Medal was bought at an antiques fair, along with a Khedives Star, as a pair. The Star was an imposter and sold on.
However with a bit of effort we located the original Khedives Star to this individual soldier and re-united the pair.

Egypt Medal 1882, Tel El Kebir Bar, named to 6716 Pte J Dawson 2/Gre
Khedives Star, named to 6716 Pte J Dawson 2/Gre
This pair has only just been re-united.
Attestation Papers show that he was born Joseph Dawson, in Brownedge Parish, Stoke, Stafford.
Enlisted 21st December 1878 at Newcastle under Lyme.
Military History sheet confirms his medal entitlements.
He was married to Ellen Ward at St Annes Church Brownedge, 13th September 1883.
Medical history refers to Syphilis and Cataracts.
Transferred to Reserves 1890.
Statement of Services show him being paid Good Conduct pay, which was forfeited for a crime of pistol whipping.
Copies of medal Rolls confirm entitlement.
